We want to read work that the author wrote because they needed to, not because they were trying to impress anyone. The kind of text where you can feel that the person behind it genuinely loves what they made. Where the voice is theirs, not borrowed from what they think good writing should sound like.
If you wrote something and thought "I don't know if anyone will get this" that's probably exactly what we want to read.
