I have always loved writing in all its forms. For some reason it was the thing I was best at and the thing I loved most. When the time came to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, there was no real question. The answer was just there.
But I ran into something: to apply anywhere serious, you need publications, achievements. And I had never published anything. Eventually that stopped being a problem for me, but it made me think about how few safe places exist for writers who are just starting out. Places where you can share your work with a smaller audience first, where the feedback feels less terrifying, where a first success can give you enough courage to send your work somewhere bigger next time.
Raft & Draft is that kind of place. I started it because I wished it had existed when I needed it. I'm glad you're here, whether you came to read or to share something of your own.
Raft & Draft is an independent literary journal for writers under 18. We publish prose, poetry, and screenwriting in Russian and English. We believe that a first draft deserves a reader, and that every author deserves a place to be read before they're ready to be published somewhere big.
We are not looking for perfect. We are looking for honest.
